Viola Brun is a Danish design studio that loves creating poetic prints, posters, and art prints. Each piece is made with the hope that it will bring you joy in everyday life and that you'll want to keep it for a lifetime. The person behind the artwork is artist and graphic designer Milene Rose Holm, who designs and composes each poster based on her original paintings, watercolor drawings, graphics, and textures.

Meet the Artist
My name is Milene, and I’m the artist and designer behind Viola Brun. I would describe Viola Brun as a visual universe where you’ll find poetic and graphic art prints and posters. The inspiration behind the motifs comes from many places – often from everyday moments like commutes, travels, films, and music. My creative intention is that the expression should feel uplifting and poetic, yet have a certain graphic edge.
Each poster is created from my original paintings, watercolors, and graphic artworks, which I then digitize and further develop in Photoshop. I love the analogue process of mixing color pigments and the tactile quality that emerges through different types of paper and materials. It’s important to me that this sense of texture is also visible in the final print.
People often ask where the name Viola Brun comes from, and to be honest, I can’t quite remember. To me, it’s mostly about the feeling the name holds – a certain mood and the essence of many things I find beautiful. It could be a summer day at “Husmorstranden” in Hirtshals, where I was born and raised, a beautifully decorated window, the scent of rain, autumn sunlight, or a walk through the lovely Frederiksstaden neighborhood in Copenhagen, where I live. It’s really all kinds of small and big moments.
My hope is that when someone buys a poster from Viola Brun, they’ll want to keep it for life – whether it stays in the same spot for years or becomes part of new and inspiring constellations of art and graphics throughout the different phases of life.
